Speaking Activity; Game;
This is a game for you to create a story with your students. They’ll have to take on the role of one of the characters while you act as a “master of the game”, making sure they follow the rules and setting the tone to the story, as well as deciding bonuses and penalties they might get throughout the gameplay.
👉 It can be customized to be played with students in all levels and with different focuses, such as:
📑 introducing/reviewing vocabulary
📖 practicing/reviewing grammar topics and/or verb tenses
🗣️ speaking practice for students to improve sentence making
🎲 having a fun and challenging class
WHAT TO DO?
Since the whole game is based on the students narrating the actions of the characters, the most important thing you do is decide what you want to work with the game.
(presente perfect… movement prepositions… past simple…)
Also, try using vocab that fits your students levels. If they’re advanced for example:
- A SETBACK instead of PUNISHMENT
- A STROKE OF LUCK instead of a BONUS
👉 Then, you copy the prompts below into the student’s file and just get started.
📑 GAME INSTRUCTIONS
- Choose a character:
→ The duck in flip flops.
→ The black cat fishing.
- The mission: 🎯 You have to cross the pool and go to the snowman.
- Movement: 🏃 You can move 1 time per round, to a place or object close to you. (ex: 🦆 → I jump on the shark 🐱 → I jump into the water)
🎲 ROLLING THE DIE
After you decide the movement of your character, it’s time to roll the die and discover what happens.
- 1-3 = EPIC FAIL → You fail + get a PUNISHMENT
- 4-6 = NORMAL FAIL → You just fail
- 7-9 = NORMAL WIN → You just succeed
- 10-12 = EPIC WIN → You succeed + get a BONUS
